For 20 years, Rivel Research Group has provided investor relations officers and other senior-level executives with the unique ability to measure the attitudes and perceptions of their important investment community constituencies. During this time, we have helped shape the tactics and strategies needed to most effectively communicate to these audiences. As a natural extension to these services and in response to the recent challenges of the market, Rivel has launched a new program that combines the experiences and knowledge of our client group with the depth of insights derived from our historical research databases.
What is the Intelligence Council? Rivel’s Intelligence Council is the only program of its kind that involves the perspective of the global buy-side in the discussion of what is best-in-class investor relations. Most programs that exist today use peer-based information to uncover what is a “best” practice. Unfortunately, this is more of a “common” practice rather than a “best” practice. By understanding buy-side needs, the Intelligence Council provides a better platform to connect with peers on discussion. Now, it is no longer about “What is everybody else doing?” rather the question becomes “What does the investment community expect from us and how does this correlate with what we currently provide?”
As a result, data that is provided to management and the board has more substance and can be relied on when making communications decisions.
Key elements of the Intelligence Council offering:
The Exchange:
- Ongoing best practice reports – On 12 topics per year (selected by the membership), Rivel will conduct comprehensive research among a representative sample of the global buy-side (US, Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia). The resulting analysis will be an insightful view of what is truly a best practice for this topic. The structured reports contain advice and action steps. These topics include building credibility, usage of social media, targeting, best-in-class analyst days, conference calls, etc.
- Quarterly buy-side research – Rivel’s Perspectives series looks at how global buy-side audiences make decisions and what their expectations are for the public markets going forward. How can public companies best reach this group with effective communications? Rivel interviews representative samples of the global buy-side to develop this insight.
- Conferences – Rivel hosts two day-long conferences per year (in major money centers) to supply a forum for senior IROs along with Rivel senior executives to discuss the key issues emanating from the research. Buy-side panels are an integral part of the day’s discussions.
- Immediate Inquiry – Through Rivel’s proprietary, confidential platform for discussing issues, members can post and answer questions. The best part about Immediate Inquiry is that there are no vendors to offer insight on how they might be able to help you with your problem.
- Custom Perception Work - Rivel is now offering company-specific, custom interviews as an addendum to the program. We offer a fixed number of interviews per year (shorter, 10-question lines of inquiry) to be used however the client deems appropriate. The research is priced at a fraction of the cost of our normal perception work, yet still provides valuable intelligence. These can be used pre- or post-investor day, post one-on-one visit or post earnings call. Each project is customized for the client.
Rivel 5.0:
A brand new program highlighting best-in-class investor relations across a number of different categories. Rivel conducts interviews with those clients scoring highly on Rivel perception studies to gain insight into how these top departments develop their communications strategies. Over 70 transcripts are posted from these interviews.
